GV Art Conservation is currently seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:

Associate Conservator

Duties: - Perform detailed examination of the materials, structure, and technique of paintings. - Assess condition for deterioration, damage, and potential complications involved in treatment. - Design and execute treatments for paintings with an emphasis on modern, post-war and contemporary art. - Provide written and photographic documentation to record the condition of objects, treatments proposed, and treatments performed according to the IIC and AIC Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice. - Write accurate estimates for treatment time. Manage and work on multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. - Work on projects independently, as well as in cooperation with other conservators and technicians. - Provide clients with advice and recommendations on transport, handling and display requirements. Job Requirements: Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent from an accredited program) in Art Conservation or related and four (4) years experience as a paintings conservator in a private practice performing hands-on conservation. Prior experience must include: -Treatment of paintings with emphasis on modern, post-war and contemporary works of art -Understanding of materials and techniques used in conservation practices -Decision making based on the latest theoretical and analytical conservation knowledge -Application of fundamental knowledge of organic chemistry -Examination of works of art, writing condition reports and treatment proposals -Estimating treatment time accurately -Documenting treatments in written and photographic form -Supervising skilled technicians and art handlers. Senior Conservator
