About
GV Art Conservation is a private-practice conservation studio based in New York City that provides conservation and restoration services for Modern, Post-war and Contemporary artworks. With a team of conservators that hold diverse specializations, we offer in-depth expertise on paintings, objects, sculptures and mixed media artworks.
Our studio works with the world’s leading galleries, private/corporate collections, art advisors, art appraisers, auction houses, fine art storage facilities, museums, insurance agencies and international contemporary art fairs such as Art Basel Miami Beach, Art Basel Paris, Frieze NY, Frieze LA, The Armory Show, and Zona Maco in Mexico City. Our staff is able to travel locally and internationally to examine and treat works of art.
Our team incorporates the latest findings in conservation science and research as well as ethical principles in our practice. We contribute and participate in the ongoing discourse on Modern and Contemporary art conservation by publishing articles, participating in panel discussions, and delivering lectures in the private and public sectors. By respecting the artist’s intention and each artwork’s unique nature we generate individually tailored, professional condition reports, treatment protocols and collection management concepts. When appropriate, we consult directly with the artist or their foundation to implement treatments consistent with their intent while also providing advice on materials or methods for better longevity.
GV Art Conservation is conveniently located near art logistics providers and fine art storage facilities in Long Island City, NY just across the East River from Manhattan. With our +4000 sq. ft studio space and an oversize freight elevator we are able to accept large scale artworks for treatment and examination. Our studio is equipped with central air/heat and humidification for a stable climate and an alarm system and surveillance cameras for security.
